Lead Abatement and Lead-Safe Renovation Training

A lead abatement contractor is licensed to conduct lead abatement on residential units, child day-care facilities and school, provide professional advice about lead abatement, supervise one or more lead abatement workers, and write pre-abatement plans and lead abatement specifications.

Lead Abatement Contractor

The Lead Abatement Contractor Course is for individuals seeking license in Ohio as a lead abatement contractor.  This five-day course meets Ohio’s requirement for training.  Individuals passing this course will receive a certificate of course completion.  To obtain a license as a contractor, you will need to submit a copy of the course certificate, along with a completed state application form and payment of a $500 fee to the State of Ohio.  Once this is processed you will be notified by the state on how to arrange for a third party examination.  The examination fee is $70.  Once you pass the state examination, you will be provided with a license which is valid for two years.

Lead Abatement Worker

The Lead Abatement Worker Course is for individuals seeking license in Ohio as a lead abatement worker.  This four-day course meets Ohio’s requirement for training.  Individuals passing this course will receive a certificate of course completion.  To obtain a license as a worker, you will need to submit a copy of the course certificate, along with a completed state application form and payment of a $50 fee to the State of Ohio.  Once this is processed you will be notified by the state on how to arrange for a third party examination.  The examination fee is $50.  Once you pass the state examination, you will be provided with a license which is valid for two years.

Lead-Safe Renovator

The Lead-Safe Renovator Course is for individuals seeking to represent themselves as a lead-safe renovator.  There is no license for lead-safe renovator.  This one-day course meets Ohio’s requirement for training.  Individuals passing this course will receive a certification of course completion.  This certification does not entitle individuals to perform lead abatement work but does satisfy training requirements for some renovation programs.
